| A
commemoration of Alaska's colorful past. A celebration
of Alaska's official sport.
Centennial re-run of the famous dog sled race between
Nome & Candle. |
My name is, Ms. Merdith Ahmasuk. I
am resident of Nome, Alaska and have been for the past 31 years.
I am the youngest daughter of Harold Ahmasuk Jr. He ran the race
in 1983, and finished. I am very familiar with the historical importance
of the race; I would love to support the mushers at the start line
when they take off down the trail from Nome to Candle and back on
the Worlds Oldest Long Distance Race.
Some of the reasons I want to be the All Alaska Sweepstakes Queen
is: When my father ran the race, I was inspired by him when I was
7 years old, to be a part of it some day. I am a huge fan of mushing,
I keep up with other dog races around the state year round, I have
great appreciation of the outdoors, I attempted the Alaska Ultra
Sport a few years ago. I cross country ski, go hiking, kayaking
in the Nome area and I volunteer for various events in Nome year
round.
There is nothing more I would want then to be part of the All Alaska
Sweepstakes. Quyanna, Merdith

For
more than 75 years, Alaska Airlines and
its people have been guided through thick
and thin by a shared commitment to integrity,
caring, resourcefulness, professionalism
and spirit. Especially spirit - an Alaskan
spirit, born in the land the airline is
named after - a place where "can-do"
and "neighbor-helping-neighbor"
are facts of life.
