Katie
Schobert
I
am a new 'kid' on the block to Nome, but it's my home now.
My name is Katie Ann and my parents are Dr. Phil and Lisa
Schobert. My grandparents are of German decent, Daniel and
Millie Schobert and my other grandparents are of Finish
decent, Charlie and Lillian Rayala. My brother, Devon, continues
to live in Wisconsin and attends college.
Admittedly, I'm not a musher but love to watch the teams.
My many other interests are in theater (I was in the Cabaret).
I like making hand crafted jewelry and I like to sew and
crochet. I was honored to win the Gold Pan Award at the
recent Miners and Musher's Ball for Shady Lady. This year
I will be a judge for the contest.
Presently I work at Bonanza Express on the night shift.
If you're a night owl, you'll see me. I work by night, sleep
by day.
Since my parent are the AAS Race Directors they have me
working behind the scene a lot. I was in Anchorage for 3
days buying food for the banquet, packing it, shipping it.
When the pallets arrived in Nome, I brought all of it home,
sorted it and distributed it accordingly. What a job!
As you can see, I'm all for hard work, just like the mushers.
The mushers work hard, play and pay attention to details.
So I can relate to the mushers really well.
