Janice Doherty was born July 31, 1971
and is a lifelong resident of Nome. Her great-grandfather,
Robert Snyder, raised his family in Candle, Alaska and moved
to Nome by dog team in 1924, where Janice and her family
currently resides.
Most people who have traveled on Alaska Airlines or who
have banked with Wells Fargo know Janice. She is the outgoing,
friendly person who warmly welcomes everyone. All who meet
her can see that she is a compassionate person with a willingness
to help everyone. She has beauty, enthusiasm and is an approachable
person, all the qualities of a Queen.
Among many interests, Janice has always been involved in
photography, writing, geology, camping, fly fishing, and
traveling. She also helps her daughter, Chrystiene with
her own team of22 dogs. Janice has her own Cessna 170-B
and is working on her private pilot’s license. Janice
maintains the “Chrystie’s
Huskies.com” website as well as her own websites,
“Mat-Su-4-U.com” and “Home in Nome.com”.
A vote for Janice is a vote to promote a fourth-generation
Nomeite with a long history of living in the Seward Peninsula.
